Samui Pride Committee is made up of representatives of the
gay business listed on www.gay-samui.com but also
has the enthusiasm and expertise of many gay people living
on Samui - some retired and some working across a whole
range of other businesses. A founding principle of Samui
Pride is that we give back to the local community.
Any profit generated will be used to assist the charity chosen by
www.gay-samui.com, currently this is the Samui
School for Speacial Needs. (Click

Giving
back to Local Community
The Samui
School for Special Needs looks after some of the most
vulnerable and needy children on this island. Children
with a range of special needs like Downs Syndrome,
Learning Difficulties, Autism and physical disabilities.
The school receives no government support (no surprises
there) and is wholly dependent on good will and donation

First Event - Samui Pride Beach Volleyball Competition
The first
event was the Samui Pride Beach Volleyball Competition was
held on Sunday 2nd October 2011.
At the north end of Chaweng Beach, starting at 9am, the teams
were competing for a THB 10,000 prize fund with the final later in the afternoon. Volleyball is a popular sport locally, and can be very competitive..
Over 100 gay people came from across Samui to compete plus
the same number again in supporters, onlookers and passing
tourists. Play started at 9:30 am and the finals finished
at 6:30 pm. Some teams were sponsored by gay businesses
while other teams were groups of guys and girls coming
together to support the event and try to win. It was a
long day with each match hotly fought over. A close call
but 1st place went to Rainbow Scuba 2nd place Ayara Buri
3rd place Boy Zone (Team 1) 4th place Fah Samui (Team
2).
